About 3rd Studio

3rd Studio is a web design and development agency founded in 1999. In that time I’ve been helping businesses build websites that work — sites that load fast, rank well, and actually convert visitors into customers.

And to get it out of the way up front… No, I don’t know what happened to the first two studios — though there is a reason for the name. Hire me and I might tell you the story behind the name.

I’m David, and I run 3rd Studio as a solo practice. That means when you hire 3rd Studio, you’re working directly with me — someone who knows the intricacies of web development and your project inside and out. I manage the project and much of the work, while collaborating with qualified professionals when needed.

Before starting 3rd Studio, I worked in investment consulting at a firm managing over $10 billion in assets. That background shaped how I approach projects today: strategy first, then execution. I’m not here to build something pretty that doesn’t perform. I’m here to understand what you’re trying to accomplish and build the thing that gets you there.

Over the years, I’ve built systems that handle real scale — an online banking platform used by hundreds of credit unions across the country, specialty pharmacy systems for companies like Safeway and Costco, ecommerce sites generating millions in revenue, and several proprietary CMS platforms. I’ve also worked with plenty of smaller businesses who just needed a site that worked well and didn’t cause headaches. The common thread is thoughtfully crafted websites that last.
